Painted Paper Mache Easter Eggs

Although I love bunnies and chicks, my favorite way to decorate for Easter is with Easter eggs! You get to use fun, bright colors in crazy patterns, and they’re such a simple shape that they look great no matter how you create them. Paper, fabric, paint, wood…it doesn’t matter! Case in point, look how adorable these painted paper mache Easter eggs are!

You may have noticed a little sneak peek of these guys on Tuesday when I shared my paper egg garland. If you’re looking for a super simple Easter decorating project, give these painted eggs a try! They’re quick, simple, and festive!

Painted Paper Mache Easter Eggs - Supplies

The process is simple, just grab a paper mache egg and give it a few coats of paint! I found I had to do two coats of paint to get the color as solid and bright as I wanted. If you want to get fancy, make some patterns or splatter a few flecks of contrasting color on the eggs!

Once the paint is dry, put the moss in your tin and stick the eggs in there!

And, if you only splatter flecks onto one side of your eggs, you can always change it up a bit by flipping the eggs over and having plain colored eggs for a while!

I’m kinda excited for this tin with the moss, cuz I feel like I can pretty easily update it for the next holiday or season that comes around. Sand and seashells for summer, anyone? Do you have any multi-purpose seasonal decorations?

Haha, thanks Allyson! But I actually bought those little topiaries from a daily Woot deal the other day! They are preserved boxwoods, and if you like them you can find them at places like Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware. 🙂

These are so pretty! I just painted one and thought it looked kind of plain. Now I can add some paint flecks!
