Design your monogram in Photoshop or Word, or any program that allows you to generate a printable PDF. Print out your monogram on a plain piece of paper. The basic Word document template I used for this project is available at the bottom of the post.
Cut your burlap so that it is about an inch bigger than your picture frame on all sides.
Place your printed monogram underneath your piece of burlap and begin tracing the outlines with a black permanent marker.
After the outlines are done, go back and fill in the middle of the text to make it solid black.
Once the design is fully traced onto your burlap fabric, place the back piece of the picture frame over the monogram, being sure to center it on the design. Trace the outside of the frame backer, then cut the burlap down to the exact size it needs to be to fit inside your frame.
Put the burlap in the frame, add the back piece, close it all up, and you’re done!
Notes
The fonts I used for this monogram are listed below. You need to have these fonts installed on your computer before you open the template, or it won't show up correctly.
Caprizant
Adorn S Pomander
Bodoni 72 Smallcaps
Or you can modify the template using different fonts if you prefer.
