Here in Chicago we don’t drive that often; the traffic is terrible and most of what we need is within walking distance. But the stroller lives in the garage because there is a half flight of stairs at the front and back of our house, and there’s no way I want to lug the stroller up and down the steps every time we go somewhere! It’s a lot easier to just roll out of the garage door and head down the alley when we go for a walk. So when Chamberlain asked me if I wanted to try their Wi-Fi garage door opener, I jumped at the chance, because being able to open the garage door from my phone is a HUGE plus!
I ordered the Chamberlain Wi-Fi garage door opener from Home Depot and they sent two techs to deliver and install it.
It only took them about half an hour to get it all set up and working. The 1-1/4 Horsepower opener has a steel reinforced belt drive for a strong, ultra-quiet operation that is durable and long lasting. I couldn’t believe how quiet it was when they tested it out! Our garage is detached, so we don’t have to worry about hearing the garage door from in the house, but my office/craft room is on the second story of the garage, so it’ll be nice to have a quiet door when I’m out there working.
They also installed a wireless keypad outside the garage door so that we can open the door with a pin code, just in case we don’t have a remote or phone with us.
My favorite thing about this garage door opener is that it has built in MyQ technology and wi-fi, which allows me to control the door from my phone using the MyQ app. You can also set notifications to alert you when the door is opened or closed. I’m always a little worried that something will be in the way of the garage door closing fully and it will re-open itself after I’ve driven away, but with the notifications from the app I never have to worry about accidentally leaving the door open; not only will it tell me if the door is left open, but I can close it from my phone while I’m out running errands!
This garage door opener also works with other smart devices such as Nest Cam and Nest Thermostat and links with Xfinity Home and Wink, so I can have all of my “smart” devices connected!
With how often we go in and out of our garage on foot, choosing the Chamberlain Wi-Fi garage door opener was really a no-brainer! I have peace of mind knowing that I’ll get notifications if the door is left open, plus the whole system has battery backup, so even if the power goes out we can still get into the garage.
Disclosure: I received compensation from Chamberlain in exchange for my participation in this campaign, and my honest discussion of their products. But I am LOVING my Chamberlain Wi-Fi garage door opener and all opinions in this post are 100% my own. I would never write a post about something I didn’t think was useful or interesting for you guys, and Practically Functional will only publish sponsored posts for companies or products I love and believe in! 🙂
