Our Bedroom Reading Nook

Our bedroom is one of the rooms that I haven’t even started decorating yet. We’ve been in this house for over a year, and except for the bed, two dressers, two nightstands, and clothes in the closet, the bedroom is the same as it was when we moved in! And that’s silly, because it’s a giant room with tons of useful space. So when Sauder reached out to me and asked me if I wanted to participate in their Put Together Design Challenge, I jumped at the chance to add some fun furniture to the bedroom!

I created a little bedroom reading nook with their Nico Accent Chair, and it’s perfect in this space! By the way, if you want to see some more awesome looks that other bloggers came up with using this chair and other great Sauder furniture, check out the lookbook!

The purplish-grey color goes really well with our purplish-grey wall paint, and I really love the bronzed nailhead trim accents.

Plus it’s super comfortable, so it’s the perfect place to sit, relax, and read a book! I added a pillow and a blanket so I can curl up in a ball and just disappear behind a book; how great will that be?!

And I love that it doesn’t have tall arms; it’s really nice for this pregnant lady to be able to sit down and shift around until I’m comfortable without being hemmed in by chair arms. And JM loves it because he can sit and play his guitar in the chair and the arms don’t get in the way. It’s perfect!

I added a super fluffy rug underneath it because I just love the feel of soft carpet under my bare feet.

For now I’m just using my nightstand as a little table next to it, but I’m in search of a great side table to go with the chair, and maybe a lamp. There’s a window overlooking our backyard right behind the chair which means I get great natural light throughout the day, but at night it would be nice to have a reading lamp there as well.

And once this baby gets here, I think I’m really going to love having a comfy sitting place in our bedroom! I’ll have a glider in the nursery across the hall, but I think we’ll keep the baby in a bassinet in our room at least for a little while, so it’ll be nice to have a place to sit while trying to calm a crying baby. 🙂

Do you have a reading nook in your home somewhere?
