I can’t believe it’s almost time for St. Patrick’s Day! I was totally unprepared for the end of February… But now that March is here, it’s time to start decorating with green and shamrocks! So today’s project is fun, simple, versatile, and totally reusable: check out these twine wrapped bottles!
Twine wrapped bottles are easy to make! All you need is a bottle, some twine, and some glue. Glue one end of your string to the bottle, near the bottom, and start wrapping. Continue gluing every once in a while as you wrap to hold the twine on the bottle. When you get to the top, cut the twine and glue the end down. That’s it!
The best part about this project is how many options you have! This bottle was made using brown jute and a Sam Adams beer bottle, but you can use pretty much anything! Use a different bottle to get a different shape or size. Use hemp or sisal (or baker’s twine or yarn!) to get different colors or textures.
I didn’t have any green yarn, but how perfect would that have been for St. Patrick’s Day?! Instead I made the bottles in more neutral colors, and spiced them up with some green flowers instead. This way I can reuse the bottles again and again, changing out the flowers for different holidays or occasions.
Also, change how you wrap the bottles for a different look! You can wrap in stripes, wrap halfway, or even alternate your string to get two or more colors on the same bottle! The possibilities are endless!
I bet there are tons of cool shapes or patterns you can make by wrapping yarn. Anyone have any ideas? I’ve seen some great photos of stuff that has been yarn-bombed, and I think it’s awesome!

Just you wait Courtenay! I made JM drink a 12 pack of beer for me so I could use the bottles, so there are a bunch more crafts coming up!

Thanks so much for this post! I don’t have any beer bottles because my hubs usually buys beer in a can but it got me to thinking. I throw out so many water bottles (I know they are bad and never deteriorate) so, I made a bunch of these wrapped bottles and dropped a few marbles in the bottom for weighting. I had everything I needed already so they cost nothing! They are adorable, will make great vases for those single flowers that I pick from the yard and give to friends/neighbors. And best of all, I am no longer adding to the local landfill!!

What a fabulous idea! Adding marbles to the bottom is super smart too!
