How To Make Cupid’s Arrow Valentines (Non-candy!)

I saw the cutest Valentine’s Day supplies at Target the other day, and I knew I had to make something with them! If you’re in the market for non-candy valentines to hand out this year, check out these adorable Cupid’s arrow valentines! (If you want to add some candy, use Pixie Stix instead of paper straws!)

These Cupid's arrow valentines are so quick and easy to make, and they are great if you want to give non-candy valentines this year! (Or use Pixie Stix if you want a candy alternative)

Except for scissors and glue, all of the supplies I used for these valentines can be found in the Target One Spot, so they all cost anywhere from $1 to $3! That means it’s super inexpensive to make a bunch of these. And they’re easy to make, so your kids will love to help!

There are over 40 awesome Valentine’s Day products in the Target One Spot that you can use for this project, ranging from super cute stickers and washi tape to chalkboard signs and burlap bows. But they are only available for a limited time and they’re so cute I’m sure they’ll sell out quickly, so don’t miss them!

Non-Candy Cupid’s Arrow Valentines

Here’s what I used:

  • red, pink, and silver glitter paper
  • Valentine’s Day straws
  • Valentine’s Day dimensional stickers
  • tiny burlap bows
  • pink and red striped washi tape
  • “Happy Valentine’s Day” stamp, and red ink pad
  • metallic gel pens
  • scissors
  • glue stick

How To Make Cupid's Arrow Valentines

Start by cutting out a large heart from the glitter paper, about 5″ wide. I used the “Happy Valentine’s Day” stamp and a gel pen to add a little message on the back of the heart.

Next, cut two small slits near either side of the heart with your scissors and slide a paper straw through the heart. Add a cute sticker or bow to the front for extra decoration!

Take a small piece of washi tape and attach it lengthwise to one end of the straw. About half of the width of the tape should be hanging off the side of the straw. Take a second piece of washi tape and do the same thing, but on the back side of the straw. The two pieces of washi tape that hang over the side of the straw should stick to each other.

Then take two more pieces of washi tape and repeat the process, leaving the washi tape hanging off the other side of the straw this time. Then clip all four corners of the washi tape at an angle. Make a few more cuts into the washi tape (but not all the way through the straw!) in order to make the fletching.

Cut a second smaller heart out of a different color of glitter paper and glue it onto the other end of the straw to make the arrow point.

And you’re done! Make a bunch more and hand them out to all your valentines this year!

Disclosure: I received compensation from SNAP and Target in exchange for my honest discussion of their products. But the Valentine’s Day products from the Target One Spot are all so adorable and reasonably priced and all opinions in this post are 100% my own. I would never write a post about something I didn’t think was useful or interesting for you guys, and Practically Functional will only publish sponsored posts for companies or products I love and believe in! 🙂
