Yuletide greetings card mats for cricut maker

There are four mats for this project. Design Space will walk you through the tools and accessories you need for each mat, so just follow the on-screen instructions.

I like to use “Cardstock (for intricate cuts)” as my material setting for the cardstock mats on this project; that setting uses slightly less pressure while cutting, but automatically cuts every line twice. I find that this works great for intricate cuts because it doesn’t drag or tear any of the material.

Selecting a material on the cricut maker for yuletide greetings card

1. White cardstock: use the StandardGrip mat and load the paper pretty side facing up. Select “Cardstock (for intricate cuts)” as the material for this mat. Load the green Cricut pen in clamp A and the scoring wheel in clamp B. After the Maker scores and draws it will pause and ask you to load the fine-point blade in clamp B.

2. Green cardstock: use the StandardGrip mat and load the paper pretty side facing down. Select “Cardstock (for intricate cuts)” as the material for this mat. Load the scoring wheel in clamp B, then switch to the fine-point blade in clamp B when Design Space prompts you to.

3. Green felt: use the FabricGrip mat and load the rotary blade in clamp B. Select “Felt, Acrylic” as the material for this mat.

4. Red glitter cardstock: use the StandardGrip mat and load the paper pretty side up. Select “Cardstock (for intricate cuts)” as the material for this mat. Load the fine-point blade in clamp B.

After all four mats are cut out and all of the extra pieces are weeded away, glue the cut out layers together. The green felt goes on the bottom, then the red glitter on top of that, and then the white piece of cardstock with cutouts on the very top. As you glue the layers together, make sure the holes line up in all three layers.

Once the cut out pieces are glued, use the needle and green thread to stitch “veins” onto the holly leaves.

Then glue the entire 3-layered piece onto the front of the folded white card.

Fold in the sides of the green envelope, then fold up the bottom “pointy” piece. Glue the bottom piece onto the side pieces to make an envelope. Fold the top round piece down, and you can tape it closed or glue it closed once you’re ready to add your card.

And you’re done!
