It still feels a little early for Halloween decorating, but these little vinyl mice silhouettes are just so cute I couldn’t resist!
Plus they only took ten minutes to put together, win! Now we have little mice “climbing” all over our couch and I think it’s the perfect quick and easy Halloween decoration!
DIY Halloween Decorations: Vinyl Mice Silhouettes
You only need a few things and a few minutes to make your own vinyl mice:
- black temporary adhesive vinyl
- mice silhouette template (you can download mine below)
- Silhouette Cameo (or scissors or a hobby knife)
The whole project is quick and easy, just cut out some mice silhouettes from your black vinyl, and stick them to a wall! If you like the mice I used, you can download the templates here:
I used my Cameo to cut out the mice, but you can easily do it by hand with a pair of scissors or a hobby knife.
I set our mice up so they’re climbing on the end of our couch, but they would be cute scurrying along a baseboard or running across stair risers as well!
Three little mice are hanging out on top of the couch, and one is down below thinking about climbing up.
The cats were super interested while I was attaching the vinyl to the wall, but a few minutes later they had totally lost interest. Puck clearly stinks at being a hunter…he’s not even fazed by the mice frolicking on the couch behind him!
This little guy is trying to escape the couch and get back down to the mouse hole on the floor. 🙂
These guys are just chillin’, hangin’ out! (I realize this is a lot of photos for such a simple craft, BUT THEY’RE SO CUTE!)
I think they’re pretty cute, and they’re perfect for Halloween!

I LOVE this! I couldn’t open the silhouette file, though, it said too many people had accessed it and wait 24 hours, so I did, and it still didn’t work. Any ideas? My boys will love this!
Jessi Wohlwend says
Oh weird!!! It worked for me; the page says “There is no preview available” but the download button right below it still worked. If it’s still not working for you, send me an email at [email protected] and I will just email the file directly to you! Sorry it’s not working!
christine says
I tried again today and it worked! Before it said something about it being downloaded too many times, or something? Thank you SO much! My boys are going to love these. Thanks for sharing.
Jessi Wohlwend says
Oh good, so glad it worked this time! Have fun with it!
Betty says
I love these little mice. I am going to put them around my desk and filing cabinet at work. How fun will that be??
Jessi Wohlwend says
That will be awesome! I’d love to see photos!

These are super cute! We don’t really celebrate Halloween, and I don’t have a Silhouette, but I will definitely cut these out by hand for my son’s room! 🙂
Shannah @ Just Us Four says
Those are so cute! I love it. Definitely pulling out the Cameo this week for sure.
Thanks for linking up with the Pinworthy Projects Party.

These are adorable! I love how they turned out. But where on earth do I find the vinyl to make them? I have craft stores in the area. . . can I purchase it there?
Jessi Wohlwend says
You might be able to find vinyl in a craft store like JoAnns, but I usually buy my vinyl either from the Silhouette store online if I’m going to use my Cameo to cut it (http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/shop/adhesive-vinyl) or another great online store for vinyl is Expressions Vinyl (http://www.expressionsvinyl.com/). Expressions has pretty much every color of every type of vinyl you could ever want!
Kristen @ It Comes Full Circle says
Slightly creepy but awesome! I love the one near the bottom with the little mouse hole next to it! 🙂
Jessi Wohlwend says
Yeah he’s my favorite! He looks like he’s trying to figure out how to scurry up the side of the couch!
SherryO says
This is the only kind of vermin I want to see in my house. 😀 These are SO cute! And your arrangement of them is great too … poor Puck, being taunted by the pretend mice! Thanks for sharing at Who Needs A Cape’s Super Sunday Link Party. Be sure to stop back for more linky fun!

Jessi Wohlwend says
Thanks Sherry! I’m pretty sure after they were actually attached to the wall Puck stopped noticing them at all. He’s not a very good hunter… :-p
Traci says
I love how these turned out, but wouldn’t let them in my house! They would send me into an anxiety attack in the middle of the night! What a great creative idea for Halloween!!
Aida @ TheCraftingFoodie says
Oh my goodness! These are hilarious and perfect for Halloween! I think my 19 month-old would never get used to them and constantly freak out thinking they’re real. But I love them! What a creative decoration idea!
Morgaine says
OMG- sooooo cute! I love it! I might have to try this for Halloween- it might scare my cat into being a better mouse catcher. lol

Eek! If I put these up in my house, I’d probably double-take for the first two weeks, thinking they were REAL mice running around my house! HA!
Jessi Wohlwend says
I definitely did a double take for about two days after I put these up! But I’m getting used to them now!

These are so stinkin’ cute and so much better than the real thing!! Wonder if my cats would be as cool and collected as Puck when these little guys made an appearance? Pinned!
