I love quick and easy crafts; they are the best! So when I was asked to do a craft with glitter from Michaels I jumped at the chance because I had the perfect idea in mind: glittery snowflake ornaments!
These cuties are easy to make, so they’re the perfect kid’s craft, and they only take about 10 minutes to put together!
DIY Glitter Snowflake Ornaments
You only need four things to make these ornaments:
- glitter
- empty glass ball ornaments
- double sided adhesive or tape
- scissors
I used Michaels’ Recollections glitter for this project and it worked out perfectly! The silver glitter I used was very fine, which was great because some of the lines in the snowflakes were pretty delicate. But the Recollections glitter comes in tons of colors and tons of textures, so if you’re looking for something chunkier, you can find it!
Start by cutting out a snowflake from your double sided adhesive. I used my Cameo to cut the snowflakes, but you can use pretty much anything like scissors, an X-acto knife, or a paper punch if that’s what you have available.
Peel off one side of the backing and stick the snowflake on an empty glass ball ornament.
Then peel off the backing on the front side of the snowflake and gently shake glitter over the entire snowflake.
If you hold the ornament over a paper plate it makes clean up a lot easier! And if you have an old paintbrush, use that to gently brush the glitter around the surface of the ornament to make sure all parts of the adhesive are covered.
Hold the ornament over the paper plate, snowflake side down, and gently tap it so that the excess glitter falls off.
Then tie a ribbon through the top of the ornament so you can hang it, and you’re done!
All you need to do now is hang it on your tree!
If you want to make your own glitter ornaments, Recollections glitter is available exclusively at Michaels stores. It’s perfect for tons of craft projects, and starts at only $3.99! It comes in lots of colors and textures (like fine, chunky, and tinsel) and you can find them in sets or individually. So what are you waiting for? Get crafting!

The ornament looks awesome. At first, I thought you had somehow gotten the snowflake IN the ornament.
Jessi Wohlwend says
Oh that would be cool! If you could somehow get the adhesive inside without it all sticking to itself as you put it in through the top you could totally do it on the inside!
Jennifer says
So pretty! And I bet that would look awesome with the ornament filled with “snow” too!
Gwen says
Yet another reason I need a Cameo… so pretty!
