With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought I’d whip up some quick decor to help get the house ready! I was inspired by the cute leaf silhouette votive candle holders I made last fall, so I decided to do the same type of thing, but with a glittery twist for Valentine’s Day. Check out how cute these DIY glittery Valentine’s Day votive candle holders turned out!
DIY Glittery Valentine’s Day Votive Candle Holders
Here’s what you need to make your own votive candle holders for Valentine’s Day:
- mason jars
- spray paint
- spray adhesive
- glitter
- stickers (or adhesive vinyl to make your own)
I made my own stickers out of adhesive vinyl using my Silhouette, but if you don’t have a Silhouette you can always find stickers at a craft store! The first step is to put your stickers on your mason jars. Make sure all of the edges are pressed down really well so that no paint slips under the edges.
Next, spray the entire jar with a light coat of spray paint. Then set the jars aside and let them dry. (I turned my jars upside down on an old beer bottle so I could carry them inside to dry; it’s WAY too cold out in the garage in the winter.)
Once the paint is dry, spray the jar with a very light coat of spray adhesive; you can spray the entire jar or just a small area on the front like I did. Let the adhesive dry for about five minutes and then gently pour some glitter over the sticky area.
Tap the jar gently to shake the extra glitter off, then peel off the sticker, and you’re done!
Put a votive candle or tea light candle in the jar, light it, and enjoy!
