Hey, it’s Kelley from Eat Drink Eat blog, here to share one of my new favorite crockpot recipes, and maybe my husbands favorite… Crockpot French Dip Sandwiches with crusty bread, melty cheese, spicy sauce and carmelized onions if you are feeling adventurous.
Ingredients
- 3 lb. roast (boneless,beef)
- 1 TBS olive oil
- 1 1/2 cups beef broth
- 1 TBS worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp dried Italian dressing seasoning (dry packet)
- 1 TBS garlic powder
- french rolls
- butter for the rolls
- provolone cheese
- optional: carmelized onions
- optional: spicy aioli/mayo (buy any kind you like at the store)
Instructions
- Rub the roast with olive oil.
- Combine salt, pepper Italian seasoning and garlic powder and rub that all over the roast.
- Place it into the crockpot.
- Pour broth, worcestershire sauce and water and put the top on.
- Turn it on low and cook for 8 hours.
- After 7 hours use two forks and pull apart and let it sit in the juice for another hour, keeping the crockpot on low.
- During that last hour make your carmelized onions if you desire and get your bread sliced, buttered and toasted with the cheese on top so it's nice and melty.
- Add the meat to the sandwiches and plate with a ramekin of au jus from the crockpot, mayo and carmelized onions.

(season and cook the meat in the crockpot)

(carmelize the onions, I used this recipe)

(enjoy!)
I made these for our good friend who my daughter absolutely loves, and it went over awesomely well, that and this carrot cake from our favorite local bakery here in Sacramento, CA:
Even “Z” (my just about 3-year old) approved, and of course she helped blow out the candles:

Oh wow Kelly, these look amazing! I’ve never tried one of these pulled-roast type sandwiches. They seem so popular in the States, but it’s just not something you see over here. I can’t wait to try something that for us is completely different! They look so delicious, I’m sure they’ll be a huge hit! Thanks for the inspiration. 🙂
