Every time I visit my parents, my mom and I spend a lot of time cooking and baking, and it’s great! (Although actually, now that Mom knows that JM likes to cook, she has him help her in the kitchen, and Dad and I do woodworking projects!) And our most recent visit was no exception! My mom wanted to bake a few holiday treats to give out as gifts to friends and neighbors this year, and I knew the perfect recipes to make: Peppermint brownies and peanut butter Rice Krispies treats!
Target has Glad Holiday Storage tupperware right now, and on the back of each package are recipes for delicious holiday treats you can make with holiday M&Ms®! The tupperware has little Christmas trees and holiday themed graphics on it, and it’s so cute! Target also has tons of holiday baking mini M&Ms® and white chocolate peppermint M&M’S®, which are what I used for the black and white brownies. The holiday Glad tupperware and white chocolate peppermint M&M’S® are only available at Target, so don’t miss out; they’re perfect for neighbor gifts!
Black & White Peppermint Brownies
- 1 package of sugar cookie mix
- 1 package of brownie mix
- 1 C semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 C white chocolate chips
- 1/4 t peppermint extract
- holiday sprinkles
- 1 package of white chocolate peppermint M&M’S® (only available at Target)
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Mix up the sugar cookies according to the directions on the package, then press the dough into the bottom of an ungreased 9×13 pan.
Prepare the brownie mix according to the directions on the package, then add the peppermint extract. Pour the brownie mix on top of the sugar cookie layer. Finally, sprinkle with 1 C semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Bake for about 30 minutes. You may need to go a little longer; just use the toothpick test to make sure the brownies are fully cooked! Then pull them out of the oven and let the brownies cool.
Next, melt the white chocolate chips (1 minute on high in the microwave) and drizzle them over the top of the brownies. While the drizzle is still liquid, decorate with sprinkles and the white chocolate peppermint M&M’S®.
Let the drizzle harden, then slice the brownies into squares, and enjoy!
Or, put them in a cute Glad holiday tupperware and hand them out to family and friends!
Peanut Butter Chocolate Rice Krispies Treats
- 6 C Rice Krispies
- 1 package jet-puffed marshmallows (1 package is 10 oz, about 40 marshmallows, or you can substitute 4 C mini marshmallows or 1 jar of marshmallow fluff)
- 3 T butter
- 1 package of peanut butter holiday M&Ms®
- 1 C chocolate chips
- 1 C white chocolate chips
Melt the butter and marshmallows in a large pan. Once melted, stir in the Rice Krispies and M&Ms®.
Pour into a greased 9×13 pan and spread the mixture out flat.
Let the treats dry for a while, then pull them out of the pan and slice them. Microwave the two kinds of chocolate chips for 1 minute to melt them and drizzle them over the top of the Rice Krispies treats.
Wait a little bit for the drizzle to harden, then serve and enjoy!
